DIANA KRALL TO PERFORM AT VILLA MARIA ESTATE

Grammy award-winning pianist and singer Diana Krall is set to grace the vines at Villa Maria Estate on Saturday 20 February 2010, joined by New Zealand talent, Madeleine Peyroux and Melody Gardot.

Fans turning out to the concert at Villa Maria’s picturesque Auckland winery will be treated to a spectacular performance by Diana, under a canopy of stars and accompanied by the 42-piece Auckland Philharmonia orchestra.

Diana will be touring New Zealand for the very first time, and Australia for the first time in five years, with concert promoters ‘A Day on the Green’ in support of her twelfth album, Quiet Nights.

Reviews for the Quiet Nights tour have been uniformly glowing with The Los Angeles Independent writing “…nothing was musically impossible with Diana Krall’s easy and sublime performance” and the Winnipeg Sun called it a “…flawlessly executed performance from all concerned”.

Joining Diana on her Australasian tour is the soulful and enigmatic Madeleine Peyroux. Her latest album offering Bare Bones is the followup to previous albums Half The Perfect World and her million plus selling breakthrough album Careless Love.  The Australian wrote of her last tour “...her singing was spectacular.  Her tone was sweet and vulnerable and her phrasing was elastic…”

Rounding out the phenomenal touring lineup is Melody Gardot, who recently took Australia by storm during a short promotional visit, including two sold out showcases, in support of her new album My One and Only Thrill. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote of her showcase concert “Gardot feels and looks like a star” and when you learn that she came to her current career through music therapy while recovering from a near fatal accident, her talents are even more remarkable.
