Sir George wins Wine Intelligence 10 for 10 Business Award
Villa Maria Estate’s founder and owner Sir George Fistonich won a Wine Intelligence 10 for 10 Business Award at a ceremony following the Wine Intelligence Seminar at Vinexpo Asia Pacific in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
Sir George, Etienne Hugel of Hugel & Fils, and Li Demei of the Beijing Agricultural College were presented with a 10 for 10 award by Ian Ford of Summergate Fine Wines and Paul Symington of Symington Family Estates, representing two of the 10-strong panel of judges.
In his acceptance speech, Sir George paid tribute to his fellow Kiwi winemakers: “I'm delighted to be recognised and accept this award on behalf of the New Zealand wine industry.”
Commenting on the awards, Lulie Halstead, Chief Executive of Wine Intelligence, said: “It is a great honour and pleasure to be able to recognise three significant figures in our industry on behalf of the 10 for 10 judging panel.”
The Wine Intelligence 10 for 10 Business Awards mark the 10th anniversary of the founding of Wine Intelligence and are designed to celebrate individuals throughout this year who have made a significant contribution to the success of the global wine industry over the past decade. The award itself is an original piece of art conceived by Polish artist Anna Kus Park, who has created 10 distinctive paintings, one for each award winner.
