The fruit for this wine comes from our Ngakirikiri vineyard located in the Gimblett Gravels of Hawkes Bay. With free-draining gravelly soils and warm temperatures, these vines are naturally low yielding and provide berries with dark colour, deep concentration and ripe tannins.
Villa Maria’s first release of Grenache celebrates the outstanding quality of the 2007 harvest. A deeply coloured wine perfumed with wild raspberries, violets, plum and camphor. Careful blending with a small percentage of Syrah and Malbec has introduced underlying texture and spice. This wine has a rich, rounded and mouth filling palate with a lingering finish. A great wine to enjoy with most Mediterranean dishes.
Enjoy upon release or carefully cellar up until 2015.
