Vineyard Description
The Villa Maria Private Bin East Coast blend consists of parcels grown in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and a small portion from the Marlborough region. This inter-regional blend produces a complete wine displaying the full spectrum of Chardonnay flavours. The vineyards in the three regions are managed differently to ensure that their individual microclimate produces the optimal fruit.
Winemaking
Cool fermentation techniques in stainless steel tanks and barrel were employed to produce a soft and well-balanced wine. Upon completion of fermentation, parcels of the wine were inoculated for malolactic fermentation, while others were left on yeast lees. This provides further texture and weight to the palate.
Winemaker's Comment
Fruit-driven in style, exhibiting ripe peach and pear with underlying hints of citrus blossom. On the palate the upfront fruit flavours are followed by a creamy and nutty texture with integrated oak characters. A richly structured wine that is soft and styled for enjoyment now.
Serving Suggestion
Enjoy with an antipasto platter, chicken Caesar salad or seafood dish.
