Lightly Sparkling Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaking

The 2010 vintage provided grapes which were harvested at varying levels of ripeness over an intense three week period, resulting in an array of flavours.  The fruit was crushed, pressed and settled for 24 hours before being racked clean off press solids for fermentation. Post blending and prior to bottling, the wine was infused with a fine bead of bubbles.

Winemaker's comments

This Lightly Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with gooseberry, passionfruit, fresh citrus, melon and nettle-dominant herbaceous aromas. The wine finishes clean and crisp, with a lingering sparkling in the mouth. The small delicate bubbles of this Frizzante style wine enhance the citrus and gooseberry flavours.

Bought 2 bottles when we were in New Zealand in April and had them shipped to UK. I love it (dreadful ,I know, but I dilute my Villa Maria with sparkling water so this is perfect for me as it's a bit stronger!) Wish it were available in UK

This wine i bought for my mom for christmas and she said it was one of the best savignon blancs shes ever drunken!and she drinks alot!and for a fare price she loved the fruity smell and the suttle taste it has also the light sparkle she really enjoyed drinking a glass on a hot day on our balcony in whangarei we are now regular buyers of this bottle i always get a letter saying can you get me more of that wine you bought for me lol. So thank you for inventing such a suttle fruity beautifully blended bottle of savvy!my favourite type of wine!

I was lucky enough to recently spend three weeks touring the North Island. We self catered as much as we could and of course sampled some of your beautiful NZ white wines - one being your VM Lightly Sparkling Sav Blanc - we thought it was VERY, VERY GOOD...and there is something nice and decadent about a light sparking wine ....especially when the flavour is just right...not too sweet or dry. Well done VM!!

Your straight SB is great and adding a few bubbles to it is a good idea.... Question = Are you going to export it to Australia?

Hi Markus, The 2010 vintage was in made in limited quantities, so has only been sold in New Zealand. We do aim to increase this for the 2011 vintage and possibly sell into other markets. We will make an announcement if we do sell this in Australia.

We loved it - very flavoursome and we will be looking out for the 'specials' to consume as our favorite summer drink. We sat outside as the sun set and forgot to put the screw top cap back on!! We are usually a little more restrained.

Loved the light, summery aroma of lime and open air with a tangy lip. A refreshingly fragrant dinner wine, the dry almond after taste lingers without overpowering accompanying dishes. Functional and fun with the screw top sealing and holding the fizz.

Thank you so much for the complementary bottles of wine (and two champagne glasses) because I took part in the Colmar Brunton survey. I opened the first bottle last night - thoroughly enjoyed it - and the screw cap meant storing the half bottle remaining overnight was no problem - tonight's glasses were just as enjoyable. I will certainly be looking to purchase this in the future.

I like the idea of a sparkling wine that has light bubbles and is also Sauvignon Blanc and the fact that is has a screwcap sounds like a great idea.
