SOILS AND VITICULTURE
The Lyons and Te Awa vineyards are located in close proximity to Gimblett Road with silt-loam and free draining gravel soils and have a history of producing exceptional Chardonnay. Located on the easterly plateau of Maraekakaho, the fruit from the Waikahu site is grown on sandy loam over red stained metals and has contributed significantly to the Hawkes Bay Reserve over many years. This wine features a truly sensational collection of Chardonnay vineyards. Harvested on different dates the various clones and sites provided an exciting array of blending options.
In its youth this wine is pale in the glass and displays delicate and complex aromas of white stone fruit, flowers, flint and cashew. Intricate savoury oak influences including hazelnut meld with stone fruit and acidity on the palate, forming a refined marriage of understated style and length.
Cellar this wine with confidence for up to eight years from vintage.
