VITICULTURE AND WINEMAKING
The fruit for this wine comes from the Fletcher Vineyard located on the central valley floor of the Wairau Valley. The vines are managed specifically for this style of wine with special attention paid to moderating crops and developing Botrytis. Fruit was picked by hand through several vineyard passes which involved individually selecting bunches of botrytised fruit off the vine. Whole bunch pressing and a long fermentation in tank and seasoned barrique allowed the free-run juice to retain its stonefruit and floral notes. Gentle fining and one careful filtration were promptly followed by bottling, locking in the characteristic flavours.
The wine displays aromas of lime and citrus blossom nuances underpinned by delicious honey and apricot overtones. The palate has a luscious concentrated core of sweetness showcasing grapefruit rind and honeysuckle notes together with a crisp acidity producing a harmonious and lengthy finish.
The flavor, textural and aromatic intensity of this wine make it a great match to acheese and dried fruit platter or a citrus sorbet.
