International Awards for Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc

Villa Maria's most widely distributed wine, the Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2013 has collected two international awards in recent weeks.

Thursday 5 December

Villa Maria’s most widely distributed wine the Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2013 has collected two international awards in recent weeks.

In the United Kingdom the wine has achieved Gold medal at the International Wine Challenge 2014 and in the USA it took Grand Champion at the Old Ebbitt Grill International Wines for Oysters Competition.

In addition the Villa Maria Reserve Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2013 also picked up a Gold medal at the International Wine Challenge 2014.

Villa Maria founder and CEO Sir George Fistonich said this is very exciting news for Villa Maria: “To have our Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc – a wine that is distributed to over 60 countries receive international awards and recognition is an outstanding result for us. It also helps to enhance the NZ wine industry’s credentials as a producer of premium quality wines,” he said.

The International Wine Challenge is the one of the world’s largest and most prestigious, with entries submitted from over 35 countries.

The Old Ebbitt Grill International Wines for Oysters Competition based in Washington DC is a 19-year old tradition which this year saw 320 wines from 14 countries competing for the top spot.
