Southern Clays is a special sub-region within the Wairau Valley, situated on the dry eastern foothills of Marlborough. This sunny, warm and sheltered vineyard site produces intense Sauvignon Blanc fruit with powerful aromas of fresh herbs such as rosemary or thyme, intermingled with exotic tropical fruits like mango. The palate is rich and weighty with flavours of ripe nectarines and apricots, finishing with a grapefruit zest acidity.

Vineyards and Winemaking
The Southern Clays Vineyard site is located at the base of the dry eastern foothills within the Wairau Valley of Marlborough. The soil type is predominantly clay which retains moisture throughout the growing season and produces intense textural wines. Sauvignon Blanc grapes require plenty of water throughout the growing season, the large leafy canopy helps produce intense tropical flavours and retain natural acidity.
